1st class cased 1813 Iron Cross. Medal is 3 piece construction with silver frames and iron central core. The reverse of the medal has 8 loops so that it can be sewn to the uniform. Case has recesses for the loops to fit into. Reverse lower arm of the cross has a maker or jeweler’s mark of S-W. There is minor age oxidation the iron center, and the silver frames have a lovely patina. The leather covered case shows age and discoloration inside. The outside has wear to all corners and the base. Lid has silver impression of the Imperial crown and iron cross. A rare cased Iron Cross in FINE- condition.
